JNS.org – Israel slammed what it called a “hypocritical” United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) resolution that expresses “deep concern” over Israeli activity in and around the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount.

Jerusalem’s Old City and its walls were first submitted to UNESCO’s list of endangered world heritage sites by Jordan in 1982. Since then, UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee periodically reviews the sites on the list.

At its recent annual session in Bonn, Germany, the World Heritage Committee reaffirmed a resolution submitted by Algeria, Lebanon, and Qatar that expressed “deep concern at the persistence of the illegal excavations and works conducted by the Israeli occupation authorities and the extreme settler groups in the Old City of Jerusalem and on both sides of its Walls.”

UN, Norwegian Government, Distance Themselves From Palestinian Youth Center Named for Terrorist Dalal Mughrabi

The United Nations and the Norwegian government have moved swiftly to distance themselves from a Palestinian youth center named after...

Israel Foreign Ministry Director-General Dore Gold blasted the UNESCO resolution, noting that it only refers to the Temple Mount as a “Muslim holy site” and “deliberately ignores the historical connection between the Jewish people and their ancient capital” as well as Christianity’s connection to Jerusalem.

“As the historical heritage sites of this area are being systematically destroyed by jihadist forces, such as the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, UNESCO’s adoption of utterly false allegations about Israeli archaeological practices is misplaced and hypocritical, at best,” Gold said. “The resolution is full of distortions and is totally disconnected from reality on the ground.”

WHY TALK ABOUT IT…….CAPTURE IT …….IT SEEMS THAT WE CAN NOT DEMAND ONE THING FROM THOSE WHO HATE AND THOSE WHO ADMIRE

SITTING ON THE FENCE PRETENDING IS ONE THING , LURING IS ANOTHER AND ALL THAT IS OF ACTION IS SIMPLY TO HURT, KILL OR INFORM OTHERS TO DO IT FOR THEM

IN THIS WORLD THE FRIEND IS THE ENEMY AND THE ENEMY REMAINS THE ENEMY..

THE ONLY SOLUTION AT THE MOMENT IS EITHER DO NOTHING OR KILL THEM ALL.

When Nehemiah returned from Persia and began rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, he faced opposition from Geshem the Arab, Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the Ammonite. They also expressed ‘deep concern’ about Israeli activity around the old city and Temple mount.
He answered them by saying that the God of heaven will give us success; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no portion, right or memorial in Jerusalem.

Obviously, UNESCO does not recognize biblical reference, but what about archaeological evidence, Jewish history, ancient traditions, and corroborative extra-biblical historical and geographic references that support the biblical narrative?
The Jewish presence in Jerusalem as verified by City of David archaeological excavations, dates as far back as 1000 BCE, with further verification found at sites within the old city, and in Judea and Samaria such as the Tel Dan Stele. An example of corroborative evidence from other ancient civilizations referencing the Temple in Jerusalem is verified in the translation of the 2,200 year old Heliodorus stele, which chronicles the Maccabean revolt.

Now contrast all this to the historically devoid, archaeologically unsupportable, and scripture contrary Islamic narrative that UNESCO embraces. Firstly, Jerusalem which is claimed to be the 3rd most holy site in Islam is not even mentioned in the Quran. Muhammad died in 632, yet according to Islamic tradition, when Umar received the surrender of Jerusalem from Byzantine governor Sophronius in 637, the Temple Mount was being used as a garbage dump. So the ‘Farthest Mosque’ of Muhammad’s night journey could not have been the Temple mount, as no mosque existed there until several years after his death.

So does it really matter to World Heritage Commitee how many Hasmonean-era coins, ancient correspondences mentioning the Jewish people in Jerusalem, and Roman-era mikvahs are uncovered? Their self-imposed blindness to Jewish history and archaeological realities in Jerusalem will ensure that Jewish rights will never be recognized, while their unreserved acceptance of the self-contradictory fabrications and anti-humanitarian deceptions of Islamic culture are all but guaranteed. Unfortunately, UNESCO isn’t about scientifically-minded and educated people making impartial fact-based moral decisions. If it were, these modern day Geshems, Sanballats, and Tobiahs now known as Algeria, Lebanon and Qatar wouldn’t also be advocating BDS and perpetuating the myth of a Palestinian people, and turning a blind eye to Arab destruction of Jewish heritage sites. What this it is about is history repeating itself again and again with the same ugliness and primitive scheming that Nehemiah faced in the 5th century BCE.

No surprise here, since the UN and all its offices are under the control of the OIC. That fact, and the presence in the White House of an antisemitic president, ensure the hypocrisy and injustice with regard t Israel.
But in the end all of these anti-Israel forces will fail. Islam will fail, the OIC will fail, UNESCO will fail and Obama will fail.

‘United Nations’ pretty much says it all because it is just a front for the arab world.

As an American of Christian & reportedly Jewish heritage, I am offended by such bias. The Temple Mount belongs to me too. I am appalled by the lack of access allowed to those faiths to the mount. Indeed, to visitors of any or no faith. I have read about digs in the mosque which destroy history with findings dumped as rubbish. No word of that heritage violation here. Truly, it really belongs to God. Forgive me, but He said it belongs to the Jews forever.
