Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu enthusiastically endorsed dog adoption in a Facebook post on Monday, in which he also talked about the joy his own pooch has brought to his family.

“How much light Kaiya has brought into our home!” Netanyahu said of his adopted rescue dog. “If you are thinking of getting a canine, find an adult dog to rescue. You won’t regret it.”

Netanyahu adopted the 10-year-old rescue dog in July. He announced the news on social media, posting a picture of his wife and two sons with Kaiya. The dog joined the family after Netanyahu’s younger son, Avner, heard that Kaiya was going to be put down and asked if he could adopt her.
