A global human rights organization on Wednesday urged President Barack Obama and other world leaders involved in negotiating the Iran nuclear deal to denounce Tehran’s ongoing threats to destroy Israel.

“The world should take the unending public genocidal threats from Iranian leaders against Israel at face value,” said Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper of the Simon Wiesenthal Center. “The Iranian regime’s double speak must be immediately denounced by President Obama and the other leaders of the P5+1. Failure to do so will only increase Iranian threats and actions against Israel.”

The call from the Wiesenthal Center, whose mission is confronting antisemitism, hate and terrorism worldwide, came on the heels of comments made by Iranian parliamentary adviser on foreign affairs and former ambassador to Syria Hussein Sheikholeslam, who said Iran would continue to “reject the existence of any Israeli on this earth.”

“Israel should be annihilated and this our ultimate slogan,” said Sheikholeslam, apparently in response to assertions by British Foreign Minister Philip Hammond — upon the reopening of the U.K. embassy in Tehran — that the Iranian regime was adopting a more “nuanced approach” to Israel’s existence.

“On the existential issues of life and death, there is no room for ‘nuance.’ The world should take the unending public genocidal threats from Iranian leaders against Israel at face value,” said the Wiesenthal Center.

Iran’s proxies operating in and around Israel — most notably Hezbollah and Hamas — have tens of thousands of rockets aimed at all major Israeli cities.

The Obama administration is in the midst of a ferocious political battle to push its landmark Iran deal through Congress and have it implemented by next year.

Opponents of the deal claim the White House is naive to believe that it will temper the Iranian regime, which was founded on the extreme Islamist doctrine of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Sheikholeslam is an Iranian hardliner, who advises Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani, a former Revolutionary Guard Corps member whose job it is to uphold that Islamic Revolution domestically and abroad.

Sheikholeslam’s call to annihilate Israel is not unique: Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei just published a book, Palestine, about the conquering of Israel and “liberating” Jerusalem. In addition, this week he said the Muslim world must unite to combat the U.S. and Israel.

I’m new to ths site (followed a link from CME) but the comments posted about Pressdent Obama seem deranged to me. Clearly Obama has provided huge amounts of arms to Israel, helped them establish the Iron Dome, backed them in the UN, all this despite repeated insults to his administration and Netanyahu’s sucking up to Obama’s GOP opponents. Obama also has had plenty of Jewish advisors and appointees (even to the US Supreme Court) so any suggestion of his aniSemitism is total nonsense, and most American Jews agree with me.

That said, the Iran threat is serious, but it seems to most informed individuals who understand the deal say convincingly that the the Iran – P5 + 1 agreement makes it much harder for Iran to acquire nuclear weapon for many years to come as there is massive inspections, 24/7 surveillance, all the uranium is tracked, centriguges and stockpiles must be reduced….

  • Wm. J. Levy

If Iran threatened the destruction of Kenya than you can be sure that Obama would be leading the charge to denounce Iran and protect Kenya.

Obama is anti-Israel and worse, anti-Jew.

How could American Jews propel him to the presidency with all his baggage and friends who are anti-Jews?

There is a deep psychological problem that Jews have when it comes to helping everyone but themselves.

That’s how the Nazis succeeded in destroying European Jewery instead of having the Jews destroy them in the 1920’s when it was possible but not in 1933 when it was impossible.

For such a smart people we just don’t learn and when Iran destroys Israel and her 7 million Jews the Jews will mourn, cry, wimper and then open another Holocaust museum for Israel.

    Give me 1,000 strong Jews.

    • Mireille Mechoullam

      Hi Mr Levy,

      I agree with you 500%.

Better be attentive and do your out most to defeat the disease. People should remember when Hitler was preaching his poison to the whole world who did not listen.

    • Dear Mr. Levy,
I couldn’t agree with you more. It is very sad
that the Jewish people who contribute so much to the
world in so many fields, are remiss in either
good judgement when it comes to political issues, or wanting peace so much they might be blind sighted to issues that go against them. As you say, “give
      me 1000 strong Jews.”

How long will anti-Semites claim it’s an inaccurate translation and Iran has no bad will towards Israel? In the early years of German N*zism people, including most German Jews, saw H*tler as a passing phase that wouldn’t last very long. The Islamic Republic of Iran has been announcing its intention to destroy Israel, but the world pretends not to hear. Genocide is a UN issue and some frozen assets should not be released until the genocide issue is settled. American court cases against Iran must also be settled with full payment before money is released.

  • Let’s not be naive, Israel right now is the road block to the Islamic world rule. Once Israel is gone (Haven for bid) WHO DO YOU THING THEY WILL GO AFTER, after the succeed with Israel?

  • Robert Davis

Obama cannot condemn iran’s wish to destroy Israel because he is a part in this plot. If he does it would only be for opportunistic reasons as he did for election purposes. On top of that such words are piling up to fill useless books. Only ACTION can be efficient, words are for thriller writers.

  • Sharon Kay

Well said. If Iran wants a deal, there should be at least one statement repudiating their desire for Israel’s destruction and abandonment of such statements in the future.

  • Jim Crozier

Well the on going negotiations leave everyone on edge, make no doubt the U.S. takes the threats from Iran literally.
Little can be done till the mullahs show their hand.
No doubt Benjamin will be right about many things.
No one group or country will be right about everything, not even Iran.
While patience is a virtue, vigilance is a necessity.
The West still carries the bigger stick, and has shown the willingness to use it for far less than what is being implied here, leaving little room for Irani complicity.

  • Michael Mayben

If Israel is hoping Obama will intervene you’re hopes will not be granted. Obama considers the Iran Deal a part of his legacy as president of America. But this legacy is one of that proves his true committ to Islam. He wants Israel and American to feel the wrath of Islam in the form of Nuclear destruction upon both our nations. The only way to keep this from happening is to remove Obama from his presidency!

“Human Rights Organization Calls on Obama to Condemn Iran’s Threats to ‘Annihilate Israel”

Even if Obama said the words one would have to be a fool to believe him.

  • Lauren Goldman

And in what world does anybody think President Hussein will say anything negative to muslims? He has yet to acknowledge that there is islamic terrorism. Hamas raining rockets on Israel? Not a word. Israel responds to said rocket attacks; nothing but condemnation from the White House. Expecting Barry to actually make any demands on the ISLAMIC republic of iran would be like expecting a fish to bark.

  • Quoting from Anthony Read’s ‘The devil’s disciples'(Pimlico 2004), pp. 246-247. ‘ … five storm-troopers were sentenced to death for smashing their way into the home of a Communist miner … and kicking and shooting him to death in front of his mother. Goering publicly praised the condemned men and sent money to their families. Roehm visited them in prison. Goebbels … lauded them as martyrs in ‘Der Angriff’, blaming everything on the Jews …Hitler sent the men a telegram supporting them …’
Does anything here sound familiar? Iranian?

  • Carl

Of course we should take those genocidal threats seriously. After all, the Islamic Republic of Iran, in its own Constitution, tells us that it is dedicated to the doctrines of Islam in the Koran. The Koran is considered to be their god’s literal words, and their god tells Moslems to make war on the Jews. Their constitution tells us in no uncertain terms that their armed forces are not only for defense, but also for spreading Islam to the world as part of their Islamic ideological mission of jihad. Only a blind fool would NOT take them seriously.

  • aleetlebirdietolme

Don’t worry, pretty soon the Iranians won’t be making a whole lot more threats.

  • Ephraim

Dream on. How can you expect Obama to condemn something of which he is in complete accord. Iran’s goals are his goals, so why would he denounce words in which they are in full accord?

  • Howard Kahan

HO HO HO , What else do you want for Hanukkah? The prince of peace will get it for you. He did get the Nobel Peace prize , you know.

  • noanoa

Obummer the narcissist will never say the right thing.

Even if he is proven to be wrong, he will NEVER admit to it.

What a huge mistake Obama has proven to be.

What a huge incompetent IDIOT he is.

  • Rob Cohen

President Obama needs to stop bullyingI Israel and its Prime Minister and respect the Jewish States’ right to offer its opinion on the dangers it faces.

The United States does not have to face the same terrorist threats Israeli’s face.

Every reader of this web site should be active in sending letters, e-mails, and phone calls to politicians asking them to reject the Iran deal.

  • nelson marans

If you expect Obama to say anything negative about the Iranian regime, you will wait indefinitely. The two, namely Ali Khamenei and President Obama, are now bosom buddies as Obama whitewashes the Iranian regime and its leaders.

  • Obama reveres Muhammad, a mass murderer of Jews who personally decapitated 600 – 900 unarmed Jews. He reveres Jew killing..

    He will never condemn it.

  • Dr. Stephen Steinlight

It’s time to speak plainly about Israel’s supposed friends in the “West,” including the Foreign Minister of Great Britain and, yes, even President Obama on the subject of the repeated threats to annihilate Israel by Iran’s leaders. British Foreign Minister Hammond may delude himself that the Iranians are taking a “more nuanced approach” to Israel’s existence. But the astounding truth is that it is the United States, Britain and France who are taking a “more nuanced approach” to Israel’s fundamental right to exist. Defenders of Obama, in particular, need to recall another American president who was a Jewish icon, for all intents and purposes an ersatz deity: FDR. Jews see Obama, as they once saw FDR, as their shield and protector. That myth finally perished under the weight of historical evidence: we now know FDR knew every detail of the Nazi killing process in Auschwitz from photographs supplied by the 15th Air Force but chose to do NOTHING to halt it. We now have a president who is fully cognizant of Iran’s intentions and knows perfectly well that it will become a nuclear power. Yet somehow he manages to convince himself — and most unaccountably American Jews themselves — that this murderously anti-Semitic regime which sees the destruction of the Jewish people as part of its religious escathology — as a non-issue. It would appear that America’s Jews have once again placed their faith in a false god, and permit themselves to be lulled into inaction by meaningless assurances regarding “more nuanced” approaches to their annihilation.

  • Ephraim

The question makes no sense. Why would a Muslim who funds Iranian terror condem it?

  • Larinthian

Why would Obama condemn something he believes himself. Here is the news flash of today. Obama despises Israel as much as the Iranians do. All you have to do is look at Obama’s record during his tenure as president. But, I also blame American Jews who decided that politics are more important than morality. According to a poll I saw yesterday, fifty percent of American Jews approve f the Iranian “deal.” During the 2008 election, Obama enjoyed the majority of the Jewish vote. If that wasn’t bad enough, the 2012 elections yielded similar results. This is why I always make it a point to make to mention that I am proud to be Jewish. Judaism is a religion based on laws and if these laws are carried out correctly, the world would be a much better place. Unfortunately, I can’t say this about some of the Jewish population. I have no respect for any Jew that believes it’s okay to turn your back on their religion, Israel, and culture.

  • Mike P.

Failure by Obama to condemn Iran’s threats indicates complicity by Obama in Iran’s goal of annihilating Israel.

  • Michael O’Connor

The BIG question is why Obama has not spoken out publicly and this tells the whole world along with the P5+1 that they do not care about Israel, because if they did this deal would not have been done it is so FLAWED and ROTTEN, that’s why the majority of the public is saying out loud the deal is NO GOOD.
