The New Israel Fund Supports Incitement Against Israel

In recent weeks, Israelis have been terrorized by a new wave of attacks. This persistent violence comes with tacit encouragement from the Palestinian leadership — and Israel is being wrongfully condemned by the world.

While many American Jews stand with Israel, the radical New Israel Fund (NIF) remains tightly entwined with organizations that denounce the IDF and Israel Police instead of supporting them for protecting innocent civilians.

For example, eight organizations that the NIF funds — the Association for Civil Rights in Israel; B’Tselem; Gisha; Public Committee Against Torture in Israel; HaMoked; Yesh Din; Adalah; and Physicians for Human Rights — issued a joint statement this week declaring:

“..[I]t seems that too often, instead of acting in a manner consistent with the nature of each incident, police officers and soldiers are quick to shoot to kill. The political and public support for such actions endorses the killing Palestinians in the Territories and in Israel. Rather than imposing collective punishment on Palestinians in the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) and the Gaza Strip, the Israeli government should act to end the reality of ongoing and daily oppression faced by some four million people who live without hope of any change in the situation, without any horizon for the end of occupation, and without prospects for a life of liberty and dignity.”

Hezbollah Says Two Obstacles Remain for Lebanon Government

In other words, the NIF claims that the Israeli public wants to kill Arabs. That is what they are selling to the world.

The NIF-funded Adalah organization also wrote to Israel’s Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein demanding the immediate opening of an investigation against the soldiers who have fired upon terrorists, some of whom were killed and some of whom were injured. Adalah’s statement said: “Many testimonies indicate unequivocally that the Palestinians did not pose an immediate danger to those around them, including to the police, when the shots were fired.”

Adalah is suggesting that the people who attacked Jews with knives were not posing immediate danger to those around them once they finished stabbing their victims. This organization has received$1,874,656 from the NIF in the last six years.

Yesh Atid leader MK Yair Lapid has said, “If someone attacks with a butcher knife and storms at an Israeli citizen, I am not willing to have a discussion about his motives. If someone comes out with an ax and attacks a woman at the bus stop, I am not ready to have a debate on the most polite way to neutralize him.”

Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) — another NIF grantee — objected to the publishing of pictures of a Palestinian “minor” in a hospital, but neglected to mention that the photo of the minor in question was published in response to Mahmoud Abbas’ lies in a televised speech, where he claimed that Israel murdered a young boy in cold blood. That terrorist — who is alive and well — stabbed a 13-year-old Israeli “minor” who was riding his bike.

The NIF is supporting groups that continue the incitement of hatred and dissemination of lies against the state of Israel.

Benny Yanay of Consensus, an Israeli military organization that represents more than 3,000 members of the IDF, stated, “The New Israel Fund acts against Israel — against the soldiers of our country. It is supported by foreign governments and organizations so that Israeli soldiers will be weakened.”

It is time that American Jews, including Barbara and Eric Dobkin, Sally Gottesman, Murray Koppelman, the Leichtag Foundation, The Jewish Communal Fund, the Rosenzweig Coopersmith Foundation, Bryna Linett, William and Sera Goldman, Edith Everett, Dr. Gabor Herman and others stop giving to the New Israel Fund.
