According to reports in Syrian media outlets affiliated with President Bashar Assad, Israel Air Force jets hit targets near the Damascus airport, Israel’s Channel 2 reported Wednesday evening.

The report, a breaking story that interrupted the nightly news, was neither confirmed nor denied by Israeli authorities.

Channel 2 military correspondent Roni Daniel said that Israel has made it clear it would not allow the transfer of weapons from Iran, via Damascus, to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

This is not the first time that air strikes in Syria have been attributed to Israel without confirmation from officials in the Jewish state. But this comes on the heels of meetings between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly held to coordinate operations in Syria — and ensure that there are no unwitting collisions between planes from their respective air forces.

During a visit to the US this week, Netanyahu gave insight into Israel’s Syria policy. He told an audience at a gala for the American Enterprise Institute that he laid out Israel’s red lines in Syria to Putin in September.

“We will not allow Iran to set up a second front in the Golan, and we will act forcefully — and have acted forcefully — to prevent that. We will not allow the use of Syrian territory from which we’d be attacked by the Syrian army or anyone else and we have acted forcefully against that. And third, we will not allow the use of Syrian territory for the transfer of game-changing weapons into Lebanon into Hezbollah’s hands, and we have acted forcefully on that. I made it clear that we will continue to act like that,” he said.

  • If only we were blessed enough to have Bibi Netinyahu as president in our whitehouse. God has him where He wants him and he is going to be and is beingu used mightily till the very end. Bibi is one proof of Gods love for Isreal. God bless him.

It is only normal, expected, that Israel would stand for basic security principles when talking in such a friendly manner with our mates the Russians precisely on the topic of conflict situations on its borders.
It is also expected of the Russians that, under their watch in Syria, nothing should occur to contradict the assumed understanding. So, if the two countries agreed on those points, the possibility of attacked targets by Israel would only be if Hezbollah, for instance, would have tried to get some “stuff” from Syria without the approval of the Russians. In that case Israel was 100% justified. On the other hand, it could something entirely different not at all connected to Israel….

  • Destiny

Netanyahu is a real leader unlike the flopeared fop occupying the white house who betrays American citizens with his every opportunity.

And the ONLY real leader in the world these days. He’s a fine statesman and I wish he were ours (USA)

  • Barbara

He will fight to protect his country and the people of Israel. The God of Abraham,Isaac & Jacob will be on his side. No man can stand against this force, no country, no coalition of forces & arm’s can penetrate the armor of God Almighty. Hallelujah!

    • marlene

      God bless Bibi Netanyahu.

  • It is necessary to use all means to defend Israel from any future threats.

We are proud to have you as a strong and decisive leader

The end times are here. The marriage between Russia and Iran is part of it. Yohannes apocalypse has given a clue on that. Things won’t get any better but rather worse than ever.

“And third, we will not allow the use of Syrian territory for the transfer of game-changing weapons into Lebanon into Hezbollah’s hands, and we have acted forcefully on that. I made it clear that we will continue to act like that,” he said.”

This was the takeaway from 2006. As I said then, Hizballah’s aims were three: 1) telemetry tests, 2) test of international reaction, 3) test of Israeli determination. The Isreali statement confirms my assessment.

On the Golan front created. But it is not Iran’s – Al-Nusra Front.
In addition, rumors about the friendship between Russia and Assad are greatly exaggerated

  • Carol Ann

    Good going, Bibi!

  • More power to the IDF! God’s chosen ppl will not go down, it has been so foretold by Almighty God! If Putin tries to strike back at God’s chosen, if we know what is good for us, we will have Israel’s back just like we did in ’73 when we nearly went to war w/USSR over our resupply and defense of our most precious ally!!! God bless Israel!!!

  • Absolutely right, finally.
We can never be sure that Russia will keep its words or its promises. Rather in the contrary. So, we shouldn’t rely on Russia’s talk at all.

I’m posting this one comment to ask, “Where are the other 9?”. The comment counter at the top of this article on the web page says “9 comments”. All censored with counter not cleared?

This is very bad news, who is next, the red states ? Say any place that supports the Second Amendment. Can’t you just hear the excuse for rounding up NRA people, not much different than excuses for attacks on Syria’s government.

  • Wulfrano Ruiz Sainz

In 1972 I wrote a book in Spanish titled “La Tercera Guerra Mundial” (“The Third World War”). On page 212 of that book I said that the Third World War would start with the Israeli at attack on Syria via Damascus.

    • Vivienne Havalant (Leijonhufvud)

Wulfrano R S like all writers, we have the gift of sight or is it just observation? My own book ‘Malaren’ written 2011 foresaw the events now arising in Sweden? Do you think I could get a Swedish Publisher to listen! Just a short quote from Isaiah 17-19 Oxford University Press edition (our Torah is not as specific)
“Go, swift messengers to a people tall and smooth-skinned, to a people dreaded far and near, a nation strong and aggressive, whose lands is scoured with rivers. All you inhabitants of the world, you dwellers on earth, will see when the standard is hoisted on the mountains and hear when the trumpet sounds.”
This is Russia and she is not against ISRAEL if one goes to the beginning of Isaiah 17 it is entitled ‘Damascus’: an oracle.

  • A lot has changed since the Lubavitcher Rebbe got so many Jews out of USSR to today when Putin allows Russian Chabad houses and discusses dousing Syria.

  • Mickey Oberman

Now that is the kind of negotiation that Muslims understand and will likely heed.
Hamas could use some of that thoughtful interchange to clear their foggy little minds.

  • tiki

Finally, baruch hashem, Netanyahu/Israel is doing what it needs to do, no matter what anybody else thinks.
    Moshiach is on his way….!

It is time for supporters of Israel to boycott the EU. I sent the letter below today:

Letter to the Delegation of the European Union to the United States

Why does the EU intend to label Israeli West Bank products? It is an insidious, deceitful, and disguised way to participate in the BDS movement, whose only objective is the total destruction of Israel. No “two-state solution” is intended. The EU does not boycott Saudi Arabian exports despite the Saudis’ bombings of civilian populations in Yemen; neither does the EU boycott Chinese products despite China’s brutal suppression of Tibetan independence and its mounting threats against Taiwan; nor does the EU boycott Turkish products despite Turkish subjugation of Kurdistan. This list could go on and on . . .

The EU boycott of Israeli products, therefore, is clearly exceptional and discriminatory and, consequently, clearly anti-Semitic, revealing Europe’s ever-present fascistic sub-cultural tendencies. Israel continues to hold Arab territory only because no official Palestinian representative has ever offered Israel peace terms that would permit its continued existence as a Jewish state. This has been true since the proclamation of the State of Israel in 1948. The Arab population of Israel enjoys more rights than that of practically every Arab country. The Arab population of East Jerusalem has repeatedly indicated it prefers Israeli rule to Palestinian, as anyone sane would. The EU boycott’s major consequence is to cause large numbers of Palestinian workers to lose their jobs.

In response to this unreasonable EU boycott of Israeli goods I, henceforth, will immediately cease buying European products sold here in America. In addition, I am selling all European securities I own, including any stock or bond funds with a significant European component. I will neither vacation in Europe nor travel on any European airline or ship.

I am sending copies of this letter to everyone I know, as well as to various schools and organizations, requesting them to follow my example until the EU ends its prejudiced, hypocritical, counterproductive, bigoted, and anti-Semitic policy against the most pluralistic, humane, inventive, productive, open-minded, and democratic society in the Middle East.
