Wall Street Journal – President Barack Obama plans to offer an upbeat look at America’s potential in his final State of the Union address, Chief of Staff Denis McDonough said Sunday, moving to draw a contrast with what he called the “doom and gloom” of Republican presidential contenders.
Mr. McDonough said Mr. Obama will break from tradition in his Tuesday night speech by eschewing the recitation of specific, year-ahead policy wish-lists and instead offer a broad and optimistic look at the country’s potential over the coming decades.
