British police were called to the scene of an eruption of anti-Israel violence on the campus of Kings College London (KCL) on Tuesday evening, witnesses reported.

Chanting “Free Palestine,” “Viva Viva Palestina” and “From the River to the Sea Palestine will be free,” angry demonstrators smashed a window of a room at the London university where an event hosting a former Israeli security official was being held.

The event, which was co-organized by the KCL and London School of Economics Israel Societies, was a lecture by former Shin Bet chief, Israeli Labor Party member and peace activist Ami Ayalon.

According to co-organizer David Tamman and other witnesses, before Ayalon even began his talk, a group of about 25 protesters who had tried to enter the venue and disrupt the event began to scream, wave placards and throw chairs, while banging on the windows of the room in which it was held. This was after they and many others who had come to hear the lecture were unable to get in, due to a lack of space. The room reserved for the occasion reportedly had space for some 50-60 people, when double that number turned up.

Catalonia Independence Activist: Jewish Community Split Over Secession Vote

The Jewish community in Catalonia is “heavily split” on the question of possible independence for the region of northeast Spain,...

One of the event’s organizers, Esther Endfield, co-president — with Tamman — of the KCL Israel Society, was physically assaulted by anti-Israel activists, who also ran up and down the four stories of the building in which the event was held, repeatedly setting off its fire alarms. Endfield told The Algemeiner that though she had taken precautions prior to the event by arranging to have three campus security guards and three Safe Space officers on the premises, she hadn’t expected to end up filing a complaint with police or “crying hysterically for over half an hour because I was so terrified.”

Due to what all attendees described as an extremely menacing atmosphere – caught on the cellphone cameras of a number of people present – several police cars and more than 15 constables arrived to protect the people who had made it into the room to hear Ayalon.

“When did I become so unsafe in a prominent university that I cannot attend or hold an event without being afraid?” she asked.

Blogger Richard Millett, who attended the event and later blogged about it, wrote:

These activists from SOAS, KLC and LSE Palestine Societies had already handed out leaflets attacking Ami Ayalon and Israel. But with their being shut outside, chaos ensued with the police being called… The activists’ leaflets, after incriminating Ayalon and Shin Bet in war crimes, accused Ayalon of being ‘overtly racist’ for supporting a two state solution because this implies ‘Israeli Jews must always be a majority…due to a fear of losing the ethnic and colonial supremacy Israel has enjoyed since 1948.’

Following the event, the UK Union of Jewish Students released the following statement:

There can be no justification for the events last night at KCL. The KCLSU Israel society were hosting an event about peace and were greeted by violence and intimidation. The fact that the police had to be called by the university in order to protect students from fellow students is a disgrace.

It is however important to note that these acts were caused by a loud minority. Just 25 people managed to disrupt an event attended by nearly 60 while over 100 others who wished to hear the speaker and engage positively were turned away as there was no more space for them.

Lastly we would like to commend the organisers of last night’s events for their commitment throughout. The intimidation of last night will not stop Jewish students across the country from ensuring that campus can be presented with a balanced debate about Israel.

It is sad and interesting to see a most extremist among Israeli Leftists, like Ami Ayalon, being prevented from speaking. It used to be that people like him were welcomed guests in any anti Israeli event. They were the legitimizing rod in villainizing Israel. Now they are not needed anymore. The overt anti-Semitism is considered the norm. Even the Israeli gays and lesbians are rejected by the anti Israeli fascists. When will they learn?

The British are notorious anti-semites right up to the Royal Family – they are the number one cause of the conflicts between Israel and the Palestinians back to the Partition days. With the takeover of Britain by Muslim extremists in every level of society, raping their girls and dictating policy in all levels of government, they have lost all semblance of civilization and are on a sad but downward spiral.

This is the price that all the countries which allowed mass
immigration of these “people” who turn peace into caos where ever they are – will have to pay. The entire world is a very dangerous place to live in now, thanks to them.

There is every justification for this bullying, intimidation and violence. It is called: antisemitism.

Seems to me this tells only half the story
It would appear that the University security staff failed to take any effective action to prevent this erupting Apparently they opened a door to let someone in when they had expressly been asked not to and that resulting in s few protesters gaining access to the area outside the meeting
They failed to call the police in time when it was clear it was going to boil over, and the video evidence I have seen seems to show the police standing by and not intervening, leaving a student trying to secure the door. This must not be allowed to be used as an excuse not to hold Israel related meetings in the future

What a strange thing we have in the world! Jews are attacked freely in the western world, where once there was respect and peace. Now we see Russia inviting persecuted Jews to come there. And, of course, many Jews are emigrating to Israel. Western countries are afflicted with weakness.

  • Serves you right.
Bring more Muslim into the country, before you know they will 100% run the country, unlike now where the have only 10% control.

..These are the general terms we have to expect from those radical Young People of palestine idiologi in Europa and in the USA. Everywhere we must be aware of these occasions simular to the socalled “schutz abtailung” (mainly) men, in the beginning of the 3. Reich. Still the youngsters of these rallies (so far) are not armed.

  • There is only one important thing in the world : JEWS ie ISRAËL, all the rest is not important. It’s the gift europ give to the people : muslims, rapes, robbery, crimes, lies, etc.whith approval of all europeans governments, and the europ union, of course, but this horrific governments and european union have to know an important thing : ISRAËL will win, and AM ISRAËL HAÏ. That’s all folks!!!

  • It is definitely a sign of the times when, even so-called “peace activists” cannot speak at a campus venue without being physically assaulted. Just what kind of “peace”
is being promoted? Is it not “the peace of the cemetery”?

And how many of the 25 terrorists were arrested? Any words unaccompanied by arrests are meaningless and worthless. The rioters were there when the police arrived, I’m sure, so why were they not taken away to jail? To do any less than that is to trivialize the seriousness of their assault on free speech, freedom of assembly, and freedom from hate speech and physical attack. What is being done?

  • steven plaut

you are overlooking the fact that ami ayalon is a far leftist, and is anti-democratic, where he denied Nobelist Robert Aumann an honorary phd because ayalon did not like his opinions.
this is comeuppance, ayalon mugged by reality!

  • montlasky

Muslims of course! Islam on the march forcing the academic world and the world in general, back to the 7th.Century-or so they think. They would make wonderful Isis recruits and get a degree in beheading people. That’s about all they excel at.

No doubt we live in challenging times. Freedom of speech is an underlying tenant of democracy. When that freedom is denied, there must be the consequence of legal recourse against those responsible. If not, democracy and western civilization will be held captive by chaos and mob rule. From there we descend into a governing system of brutal tyrannical dictatorship which is the familiar culture from which these bullies originated.

  • Mary Davenport

I applaud Kings college for doing more than many universities, who cancel events or allow violent protesters to prevent free speech. But why do police not take the next step: disperse and/or arrest protesters who become violent or disruptive? Setting off fire alarms when there is no fire is a crime in the USA. The University of Po did the right thing in throwing out the student who engaged in overt anti-Semitic activities. More universities in the US and UK need to do the same.

  • To appreciate and practice tolerance, one must first understand what the word, “tolerance,” means. Westerners put lives at risk when they behave with tolerance and expect their mortal adversaries from the middle eastern Islamic world to do the same.

  • fanya vasilevsky

Shame!!! Shame!!! Shame!!! These are so-called victims, who attack with knives, stones, guns and disrupt an event in the place of learning. You, the Palestinians should be ashamed!!!

  • That is too typical of these ‘bs/’ms, mostly male stupid goons. They reproduce like mice/rats,take over an area, and act according to their monstrous ‘bs/’ms ideologies, such as sharia law.

Arrest, prosecute jail and then sue into bankruptcy

  • were they arrested for the disturbance ?
if not then the Brittish government is letting them run
free and they will continue to do it
    We are the owners
    not the occupiers
Palestine is free . free it from who?

  • Obviously evil rules and anti-Semitism prevails in the assinine British Parliament. The British recently debated barring Donald Trump entry (visa) to enter the Island Nation because of his stand against illigle Islamic Muslims entering America. It appears the British have no problem with the destruction and civil disorder from rift rash trash it already has residing there.

  • SHmuel HaLevi

One wonders what does it take for our people to understand that we must never accept violent beasts to attack us.
We walk like lambs again to the eventual slaughters we see happening in Israel and elsewhere and allow that?
We have learnt nothing from history.

  • rulierose

I read the whole post twice, and couldn’t find anything about what happened to the protesters. were they dragged away and arrested so the event could continue? were they charged with something befitting their violence?

or, as I suspect, were they let go with a warning? did the event have to be stopped, and was it the speaker, and not the criminals, who had to be escorted out?

England has become a dangerously dhimmified country. you only have to look at the scandalous rapes of Rotherdam to understand that job #1 there is to make sure Muslims don’t look bad, not to keep people safe.

  • This speaks volumes as to who the good guys are and who the bad guys are.

  • Mickey Oberman

I congratulate those who organized the event and kept it going.

I salute the police for protecting the victims instead of the offenders as so often occurs in this kind of confrontation. They were brave and morally correct.

  • SteveHC

Jewish (and other) students can organize, attend and comment on such activities until they are blue in the face if they wish, but if they fail to INSIST on the expulsion and permanent ban from campus of perpetrators – as well as the filing of criminal charges against them – such disgustings acts will continue to occur.

There must be a automatic response team acting in self defence, one way is to have security personal to smash anyones nose to pulp who is disrupting such a venue.I can assure you that this system works wonders!

It seems as though anti-Israel activists are violent barbarians…this seems to happen on campuses globally.

    Leftists are NOT liberals.
