Israeli Opposition Leader Lashes Out at Netanyahu Government for ‘Inaction’ on Hamas Tunnels
by David Daoud
The leader of Israel’s opposition sharply criticized what it called the government’s inaction with regard to Hamas’ renewed tunnel activity on the Gaza border, the Hebrew news site Walla reported on Tuesday.
MK Isaac Herzog, the chairman of the Zionist Union Party, said the government should stop hesitating and immediately instruct the IDF to destroy the tunnels. “Are they waiting for terrorists to tunnel into some kibbutz or town [before they act]?” he asked.
Herzog also said he holds Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon responsible for any civilian deaths that occur as a result of doing nothing about the terrorist threat.
