  • The whole issue of superdelegates, a product of the party machine, is reminiscent of Communist countries, in which the party regulars control the process. This issue along with the “tyranny of democracy” atmosphere that prevails in the U.S. and in most so-called democratic countries would seem to indicate that there is not as much difference between modern Western democracies and totalitarian regimes as many people would assume.
