JNS.org – Avigdor Lieberman and his right-leaning political party Yisrael Beiteinu will tentatively join Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s governing coalition, with Lieberman becoming defense minister.

Lieberman, Israel’s former foreign minister, accepted the position after Netanyahu offered it Wednesday as part of the revamping of the Likud party-led coalition. He will replace current Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon.

“This will be closed on within 24 hours. The chances that Lieberman will join [the coalition] are very high. It’s nearly finished,” senior officials involved in the negotiations said Wednesday, according to Yedioth Ahronoth.

Israeli opposition leader Isaac Herzog, leader of the center-left Zionist Union party, said after the news broke on Lieberman that “Israeli citizens will now have to deal with a government whose policies are borderline crazy.” Before Lieberman’s appointment, the Zionist Union itself had been under consideration to form a unity government with the Likud-led coalition.

On Tuesday, Lieberman had said that his party has “no intention of whitewashing the Labor party’s entry into the government. We’re the true national camp. We have clear positions, primarily in the fields of security, immigration and absorption. If those issues are indeed on the table, and they’re willing to talk to us—not just over the defense portfolio but also defense policy, death sentence, pension reforms—I don’t see why not have these talks directly, instead of in the dead of night and through mediators and leaks to the press.”

Let this be a message to radical Islam and the terrorist organizations surrounding Israel… any attack on the state of Israel will be met with the strongest possible response. Schools, hospitals, and mosques will no longer be allowed to serve as command centers, launching pads or weapons storage facilities. The UN should be given 24 hours to get out. Then the IDF should with overwhelming force end the cycle of being attacked, defending, signing yet another meaningless truce agreement and giving the terrorist governments and/or their proxies, a chance to rearm to begin the cycle all over again.
The definition of insanity is to repeat a doomed activity and expect different results

Yes,,, as usual with the hypocritical , Hellenist lemmings in the Jewish government ( it’s similar here in the states but far less critical to our daily survival) , they are always trying to please the enemy and as the newspaper stupidly says, ” what the world thinks” in so much as a normal thinking Lieberman is considered to extreme. Extreme for what?? Israeli Jewish lives?? You feeble minded pandering weaklings.
You know that whomever Netanyahu might bring aboard will not bring these Arabs any closer to a peace deal!! Just keep pandering to the West and keep us Jews and Israelis from leaving our homes or going to Jerusalem!! The reporter here makes me sick! And one more thing indeed; Kahane does live!!!!

I support Bibi all the way. EXCEPT!.

How can he move a top general out, and replace him with a man who is hated all over the world.
What does Lieberman know about military, Weapons etc.

It is like taking a Yeshiva student to be Chief Rabbi.

This move is the worst that Bibi has ever done.

What is going to happen to Ya’alon?

Israel needs to have new election URGENTLY.

According to Daniel 7, there is going to be a coup d’etat before Rivlin finishes his term in 2021.

madness. Bibi sacks anyone who dares says the truth- Yaalon is an intelligent man with some ethics left in him- that’s why he is replaced by the dictator Bibi. Israel is doomed, and the right-wingers are dancing on the ashes with glee.

  • What does it mean that Lieberman tentatively joins the coalition? Until the election next year? I HOPE SO.

People looking into Israel from the outside wonder how this Herzog person would know (or even care) what Israelis think since he’s so insular and self-absorbed.
Israel needs leadership that’s not afraid of a fight and who know that their nation is worth fighting for and so we wonder if that’s what Herzog thinks. Would he agree?
