JNS.org – Jordan’s King Abdullah II — after ordering to dissolve the country’s parliament on Sunday — appointed a politician known for his strong ties to Israel as the new Jordanian prime minister, Al Jazeera reported.

Although Jordan’s government has a peace treaty with Israel, a majority of the outgoing Jordanian parliament’s members held anti-Israel views. But the newly appointed prime minister, Hani Mulki, chaired the Jordanian government committee that negotiated peace with Israel from 1994-1996. He is expected to now join the effort to restart peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

“Mulki will be working to bring Palestinians and Israelis to the negotiation table and work to bring a final solution to the Palestinian cause which most likely will be at the expense of the Palestinian people,” Husam Abdallat, a former senior government aide within the Jordanian prime minister’s office, told Al Jazeera.

Tareq al-Fayed, a Jordanian policy analyst and a journalist at the London-based Al-Quds Al-Arabinewspaper, said Mulki will have two major tasks while in office.

“The first is to manage the news phase of the parliamentary elections and set the government’s political agenda. The second is to manage Israeli-Jordanian relations, which have seen tension over Israel’s policies and encroachment on the Palestinians in Jerusalem and against Al-Aqsa Mosque,” Fayed told Al Jazeera. Although Jordan in April released a statement slamming “Israeli settlers and police” for storming the “Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram al-Sharif (Temple Mount),” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to maintain the Israeli-Jordanian-Palestinian status quo of a ban on Jewish prayer at the Temple Mount.

Fayed also said that under Mulki, the possible strengthening of Israeli-Jordanian relations could encourage Israeli investment in Jordan’s economy.

  • Peace can only come when Arabs stop occupying the Holy Land. Give back the east bank, Gaza, Sinai, and all of Judea and Samaria.

  • Myriam Obadia

YJ Draiman, actually they do claim Spain as Al Andaluz and periodically claim they will take it back since, once conquered by Islam, a land belongs to Islam forever in the Islamist way of thinking.

  • The Arab Palestinians do not belong in Israel.
They have Jordan and they have the homes and 75,000 sq. mi. the Arab countries confiscated when they terrorized and expelled a million Jewish families who majority now live in Israel. International law allocated over 5 million sq. mi. to the Arabs after WWI and Palestine to the Jewish people as their historical land.

The Arabs do not own any land in Palestine aka Israel. If you check going back in history, you will find out that they are illegal occupiers of Jewish land. They also terrorized and expelled over a million Jewish families from Arab countries (who lived there for over 2,500 years) and confiscated all their assets including Businesses, homes and over 75,000 sq. mi. of Jewish owned land. Most of the million expelled families from Arab countries were resettled in Israel and now comprise over half the population. Mohamed their prophet killed all the Jews in Medina, raped the women and confiscated all their assets. The Muslims also occupied Spain from about 700 to 1490; how come they do not claim Spain.

      Brilliantly said!
How come they don’t claim Spain?
How come the Chinese people who were imported by California to work on the railroads, roads etc. During the Gold Rush era, don’t claim Northern California?
Most Arabs so called ” Palestinians “, we’re imported by the Ottoman Empire and the English Mandate, to work on the railroads, and roads just like the Chinese!
