Israel Showcases Agriculture Innovation at International Conference
by JNS.org
JNS.org — Hundreds of investors from 20 countries participated in Israel’s fourth international AgriVest conference on Wednesday, where start-ups showcased new agri-technology at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot.
At the conference, a dozen Israeli ag-tech companies competed against each other. An agro-biotech start-up named Enzootic that has developed a platform for crustacean aquaculture was named the winner.
“We have instituted an event that is not only an integral part of the Israeli ag-tech landscape, but may well have the power to influence the agriculture of the future,” said Dr. Nitza Kardish, CEO of Trendlines Agtech, one of the organizers of the conference.
“AgriVest showcases technologies that will enable us to produce unique foodstuffs, additives, seeds and agricultural products to combat the stress on our dwindling natural resources,” said Gideon Soesman, co-founder and managing partner of GreenSoil Investments, another organizer. “Investing in new crops, treatment methods, waste reduction and yield enhancement will provide solutions to the world’s food crisis and can deliver sizable returns to investors.”
Other parties involved in putting AgriVest together include Invest in Israel and the investment promotion center of Israel’s Ministry of Economy and Industry.
