Three Israeli soldiers were wounded — one of them seriously — on Monday when a Palestinian terrorist opened fire at a checkpoint north of Jerusalem.

The terrorist — who was armed with a Kalashnikov rifle — was shot dead on the scene. According to media reports, he was a member of the Palestinian Authority security forces.

The attack took place at the Focus checkpoint near the Jewish community of Beit El, next to Ramallah. A similar attack at the same location took place in January.

The wounded soldiers were transported to hospitals in Jerusalem for treatment.

Monday’s shooting was the latest incident in an ongoing wave of Palestinian terrorism that began in September 2015 in which nearly 40 Israelis have been killed and hundreds more have been wounded.

On Sunday, three Israeli Border Police officers were wounded in a car-ramming attack near Hebron.
