International supermodel and TV personality Bar Refaeli was among the hundreds of Israelis who answered an impassioned plea on social media to celebrate the 92nd birthday of a lonely Holocaust survivor who has gone blind, Israel’s Channel 2 reported on Thursday.

According to the report, the public call was posted on Facebook by the organization “The Good Spirit: The Association for Immediate Assistance to Holocaust Survivors.”

Refaeli said that she arrived to meet Ernest after she heard that he was impressed with her work on behalf of Israel and the way she serves as a positive role model for the Jewish state around the world.

At the party, Refaeli told Ernest that she was “happy to be taking part” in such a moving event, at which so many people of all ages were in attendance.

The event came just ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Friday.
