The Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Clippers are among several NBA teams expressing interest in signing Israeli basketball star Omri Casspi, after he was waived by the New Orleans Pelicans last month, an ESPN reporter tweeted on Tuesday.

According to Marc Stein, Casspi, 28, has been cleared to resume playing basketball after injuring his thumb in his first game with the Pelicans, and is now weighing his options.

In 2009, Casspi became the first Israeli in the NBA. The Maccabi Tel Aviv star was first drafted by the Sacramento Kings. Subsequently, he played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets and, finally, the Pelicans.
