Israeli Air Force Strikes Hamas Targets in Gaza in Retaliation for Rocket Fire

JNS.org – Israeli Air Force (IAF) aircraft struck targets in the northern Gaza Strip Wednesday night after a rocket fired from the Hamas-controlled coastal enclave hit an open area in southern Israel’s northwestern Negev region.
“The IDF considers Hamas solely responsible for what happens in the Gaza Strip,” the Israeli military said in a statement, adding that IAF aircraft destroyed two Hamas positions.
The rocket caused no injuries and no property damage in Israel. It was the first rocket attack emanating from Gaza since Feb. 27.
“Israel will not tolerate sporadic rocket fire and will respond to any attack,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the time, when the IAF responded by striking terror targets in Gaza.
