JNS.org – The low-cost Icelandic airline WOW announced Tuesday it would begin operating flights to Israel from the US starting Sept. 12.
The Icelandic carrier began selling tickets for the flights Tuesday, offering $149 one-way flights to Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion International Airport from Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Pittsburgh and Newark, NJ, as well as $199 one-way flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami. WOW said it will offer the flights, which will include connections via Iceland’s capital of Reykjavik, four times per week.
“Visitors from all over the world continue to be attracted to the unique city of Tel Aviv and we are honored to have the opportunity to offer travel from the United States in a more efficient way with the best possible prices,” said Skuli Mogensen, founder and CEO of WOW.
“The Israeli government and tourism board have been great partners in getting the route approved and we are thankful for their support of WOW air,” Mogensen added.
Israeli Tourism Minister Yariv Levin said, “I’m confident the launching of this new historic route will significantly increase the number of tourists traveling to Israel from Iceland, Canada and the US, and will also contribute to the unprecedented trend of growth in the number of tourists visiting Israel over the last number of months.”
