JNS.org – Fresh off his re-election, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday the Islamic Republic will continue missile tests “if technically necessary.”

“Our missiles are for our defense and for peace, they are not offensive,” Rouhani told reporters in Tehran. “Know that while there is a technical need to conduct missile tests, we will do so and we will ask the permission of no one.”

Rouhani’s statement came as President Donald Trump came out forcefully against Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons, its ballistic missile program and its state support for terrorism.

The US and Israel “can declare with one voice that Iran must never be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon — never, ever — and must cease its deadly funding, training and equipping of terrorists and militias, and it must cease immediately,” Trump said on Monday at a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin in Jerusalem.
