Israeli Education Minister Bans Anti-IDF Group Breaking the Silence From Schools

Photo: Wikimedia Commons. – Representatives of Breaking the Silence — an NGO that publicizes testimonies of former IDF soldiers in order to spread criticism of the Israeli military — will not be allowed to meet with students in Israel’s public schools, Education Minister Naftali Bennett announced on Thursday.

“Anyone who slanders IDF soldiers will not set foot inside a school,” Bennett said.

“This is the decision and it stands,” he said. “Today, anyone who attacked me for banning Breaking the Silence from schools understands that they have no place in the education of the next generation.”

In the US, Reservists on Duty — an organization founded to combat antisemitism on college campuses and elsewhere — last month held a two-week speaking tour with the goals of countering Breaking the Silence’s activity and promoting the stories of Israel’s minority communities.
