A sea turtle was rescued on Thursday — Israeli Independence Day — after it got caught in a fishing net in the Port of Ashdod, the Hebrew news outlet Mako reported.

The injured turtle received initial medical treatment from veterinarians of Israel’s Nature and Parks Authority.

It was later transferred to the Sea Turtle Rescue Center in Mikhmoret for further care and rehabilitation.
