A leading Australian civil rights group has condemned the recent defacement of a Jewish parliamentarian’s office in Melbourne.
The door of Labor MP Michael Danby’s office was plastered with stickers bearing anti-Israel statements on Saturday.
Dr. Dvir Abramovich — chairman of the Anti-Defamation Commission — stated, “We deplore in the strongest terms this repugnant vandalism and antisemitic propaganda which is a direct attack on Mr. Danby and on democracy, and which has absolutely no place in our nation.”
“The individuals who committed this cowardly act of hate have crossed the line,” Abramovich added. “We call on leaders across the political spectrum to express their outrage at this vicious and obscene assault against an elected representative and to say that such vile conduct is unacceptable in any circumstance.”
