The main challenge facing the Israeli military is to “be strong and deter our enemies,” IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizekot said in a Rosh Hashanah interview that aired on Friday.

Speaking with two paratroopers, Eizenkot called the IDF “the proof of insurance of the State of Israel.”

The interview largely focused on more light-hearted topics, with the head of the IDF revealing he drinks more than 10 cups of espresso coffee a day, can change clothes “in around 18 seconds,” and likes to use the smiling sunglasses emoji when texting.

The 58-year-old Eizenkot — who first enlisted in the IDF in 1978 — also told his interviewers that he would be hosting lone soldiers at his home during the upcoming holiday celebrations.
