Israeli actress Gal Gadot expressed well wishes to Israeli singer Shiri Maimon last Thursday ahead of the latter’s debut in the lead role in the Broadway show ”Chicago.”
Gadot posted on Instagram a clip of Maimon practicing a tune from “Chicago” and said in the video’s caption, “I’m so proud of my sister @shirimaimon1!” along with “You go girl! I wish I could be there! Break a leg!”
Maimon will take on the lead role of Roxie Hart in the Tony Award-winning show from Sept. 21 through Oct. 5. This is the first time an Israeli will join the cast of “Chicago,” which is Broadway’s longest-running American musical.
Maimon spoke to The Algemeiner earlier this month about her Broadway debut and said she was both excited and nervous about being on stage, and felt as if she was representing Israel in her new role.
