IDF Video Shows Explosion Scaring Away Hezbollah Operative in Tunnel Under Lebanon Border
by Algemeiner Staff
The IDF released two videos on Tuesday showing the insides of tunnels built by Hezbollah under the Israel-Lebanon border.
In one of the videos, a Hezbollah operative is seen approaching a camera before an explosion scares him away.
We surprised this Hezbollah operative before he could surprise Israeli civilians. Take a look at what we caught on camera from inside an attack tunnel dug from Lebanon into Israel. #NorthernShield pic.twitter.com/CFXl33hx7i

The other video reveals a tunnel located deep beneath a home in southern Lebanon.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli military announced the launch of “Operation Northern Shield,” saying its goal was to “expose and neutralize cross-border attack tunnels dug by Hezbollah.”
The IDF called up a limited number of reservists to prepare for potential Hezbollah retaliation.
In New York on Tuesday, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon called on the Security Council to convene to condemn Hezbollah — a Shi’a proxy of the Tehran regime.
“Hezbollah continues to operate with Iranian funding, direction, and patronage,” Danon stated. “The Security Council behind me had said in a clear voice to Hezbollah that it must not arm itself and continue its terrorist activities against Israel. Yet, this did not prevent them from continuing their operations, and now they are also trying to infiltrate into Israel through tunnels. It is clear that Hezbollah shows willful disregard towards the Security Council and aggressively violated Resolution 1701.”
“Israel expects the international community and the Security Council to condemn this activity by Hezbollah and to demand that the Lebanese government implement Security Council resolutions,” he added. “We will do whatever it takes to defend our sovereignty and ensure the security of the residents of Israel.”
The Trump administration voiced its backing on Tuesday for “Operation Northern Shield,” with White House National Security Adviser John Bolton saying, “The US strongly supports Israel’s efforts to defend its sovereignty, and we call on Hezbollah to stop its tunneling into Israel and to refrain from escalation and violence.”
“More broadly,” he added, “we call on Iran and all of its agents to stop their regional aggression and provocation, which pose an unacceptable threat to Israeli and regional security.”
