An IDF officer was wounded on Tuesday by sniper fire from the Gaza Strip.
According to the Hebrew news site Mako, the officer was hit along the border fence, near the community of Kissufim in southern Israel.
He was evacuated in moderate condition after being struck in the upper body. He was taken to Soroka Medical Center in nearby Beersheba, local media reports said.
IDF tanks responded by striking a Hamas position in Gaza from which the gunfire appeared to originate.
