A number of Jewish celebrities took to social media over the weekend to share pictures from their Passover Seders and preparations for the Jewish holiday, which began on Friday night at sundown.

Actor Joshua Malina posted images on Instagram of a very large pot of matzah ball soup and some kosher for Passover foods, and on Twitter the “Scandal” star tried to fundraise for Mazon, a Jewish non-profit that works to help those struggling with hunger in the United States and Israel.

“On Passover we proclaim ‘Let all who are hungry come and eat,’ yet who among us throws open his door to those in need?” Malina wrote. “It’s a good time to offer a meal to the hungry on our streets, or to make a donation to @MAZONusa (or your favorite organization that addresses food insecurity).”

Before the holiday, “Big Bang Theory” actress Mayim Bialik posted on Instagram photos of her getting ready for Passover, which included covering countertops, making a microwave kosher for Passover and tying up cabinets with “Big Bang Theory” ribbons. She also included a photo of a horseradish plant from her mother.

“Glee” actress Dianna Agron shared a video of herself getting ready for her Seder by dancing to “Tradition” from “Fiddler on the Roof,” while actress and deaf activist Marlee Matlin posted a video of herself signing both “Happy Passover” and “Happy Easter” and then eating a piece of matzah.

Israeli supermodel Bar Rafaeli shared on her Instagram story a photo of flowers with the caption “Happy Passover,” and singer Matisyahu posted a selfie on Saturday with his girlfriend and the caption, “Happy Passover.” He then shared a picture of breakfast and captioned the shot, “An instant classic: the Matisyahu 420 Pesach freedom sloppy brisket scramble.”

“Jane the Virgin” star and Israeli actress Yael Grobglas shared pictures from her Seder, and “Will and Grace” star Debra Messing shared selfies of her and her son at their Seder, and captioned the photos, “Passover Seder with our chosen family (and yes, I know there’s something in my teeth so you don’t have to tell me.)”

In a separate Instagram post, Messing wrote, “Today is Passover. A Holiday that celebrates the Jews freedom from slavery and oppression. It’s a happy holiday. We give thanks, and ask God to free all peoples who are oppressed and don’t enjoy equanimity all over the world. We must start in our own back yard.”

Alex Borstein, star of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” posted on Instagram a selfie she took at the Seder of her and her daughter, who was wearing a mask to represent blood, one of the Ten Plagues. She wrote in the photo’s caption, “Tonight was a bloody success. #passover2019.”
