Israeli police clashed with rioters on the Temple Mount Friday after being attacked with stones and firebombs, reports say.
Nine police officers and a number demonstrators were lightly injured in the clashes. Police said calm was restored to the compound at around 1:30 pm and that a considerable police presence would remain positioned around the Al-Aqsa mosque. Arabs reported a number of minor injuries, among them a man of about 40 was admitted to the hospital, according to Israel’s Channel 2.
Friday morning Jewish settlers from the Adei Ad outpost and Palestinian Arabs from the village of Mrair in the northern West Bank clashed. The settlers said Palestinians from the village had stolen one of their herds overnight. Border Guard officers were called on the the scene to restore calm.
Also on Friday, Arabs from the village of As Sawiya, near the Tapuah Junction, claimed Jewish settlers destroyed 75 olive tree saplings and damaged 21 trees. The slogan “price tag” was spray-painted on a barrel in the village.
“Price tag” refers to the policy adopted by settlers in recent years in which attacks are carried out against Palestinian Arabs and their property in response to Israeli government measures against settlements.
