A New Jersey rabbi’s attempt to bury more than 1,000 bags of religious items is causing quite a stir in New Jersey. Littered along a back road in Lakewood, the bags were initially buried there before Larry Simons, a Jewish resident from the area alerted authorities to the illegal burial.
“I have to obey the law, you have to obey the law— that’s what the law’s for,” Simons told Christine Sloan of CBS 2 New York.
The rabbi responsible wasn’t willing to comment but his daughter said that he was originally given permission by the township to carry out the religious ritual.
