Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had the rare opportunity to meet himself Thursday during the taping of a television interview to air next week.
Appearing on the popular show Eretz Nehederet (A Wonderful Land), Netanyahu was joined by Mariano Edelman, an actor who plays Netanyahu on the satirical show. Edelman, however, was in full Netanyahu character, even mimicking the prime minister’s attire: black suit, white shirt and blue tie. The night wasn’t all jokes, however. The show’s host, Eyal Kitzis, interviewed the prime minister about issues such as the budget and the peace process. The segment will air next week.
Eretz Nehederet has become such a popular program that even U.S. President Barack Obama name-dropped it during his recent visit to Israel, saying that any reports of tension between he and Netanyahu were simply meant to provide material for the show.
