For the first time, since Syria unrest began in January, civilians opened fire on Syrian forces using automatic weapons and grenade launchers, killing at least four, said an opposition activist.
The incidents accrued in the cities of Talbisa and Rastan which have been subject to constant bombardment in recent days by the army loyal to President Bashar al-Assad.
So far, the opposition has only called for non-violent demonstrations, however, these incidents may indicate a shift in strategy for the dissidents toward a Libya-style armed conflict.
