Iran’s embassy in Turkey has denied that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was detained earlier this week.

“Based on an untrustworthy reporting, it is observed that some press institutions have published news, saying that the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran honorable Ahmadinejad has been detained. The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran denies those news reports,” the release said.

American news site WND claimed that Ahmadinejad was detained by the Revolutionary Guards Monday “and warned to keep his mouth shut about matters detrimental to the Islamic regime before he was released” after seven hours in custody.
