Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal criticized on Tuesday  those countries supporting the embattled Syrian regime in its civil war against rebel groups, saying there was “no logic” behind Russia providing arms to Bashar al-Assad.

Speaking during a press meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, he said: “There is no logic that allows Russia to publicly arm the Syrian regime and the foreign forces that support it.”

“The kingdom calls for issuing an unequivocal international resolution to halt the provision of arms to the Syrian regime and states the illegitimacy of the regime,” Faisal added.

During the meeting he said that Syria can now only be considered as an “occupied land.”

Faisal also criticized Iran and terror group Hezbollah’s involvement in Syria, calling it dangerous and saying the opposition forces must be offered military help to defend themselves.

“The most dangerous development is the foreign participation, represented by Hezbollah and other militias supported by the forces of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard,” Reuters quoted Faisal as saying.

Kerry is visiting Saudi Arabia to discuss the U.S. role in Syria, ahead of a visit Thursday to Israel.
