A combined team of Israeli Security, Defense and Police forces on Tuesday shot and killed  Mohamed Aatzi, a terrorist wanted for his involvement in planning a November 2012 Tel Aviv Bus Attack that wounded 29 people.

In a joint statement, the security forces said Aatzi died after instigating a shoot out against the Israeli soldiers when they attempted to detain him in Bil’in.

The Israeli security forces said Aatzi was 28 years old, born in Beit Lakiah, and had been jailed previously several times for crimes related to his membership in the Islamic Palestinian Jihad terror group. On Monday night, two of Aatzi’s known accomplices, Mohamed Ibrahim Sais, 30, and Abdalla Saliman Abu Aatzi, 22, both of whom had also been jailed for past involvement with the Islamic Palestinian Jihad, were detained and taken in for questioning.

IDF Spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner said, “The outcome of this operation emphasizes that terror does not pay. Terrorists must know that there is no eluding the extensive intelligence and operational capabilities of the IDF, we will continue to seek out those that attempt to undermine and defy our way of life.”
