Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks will stand down as religious head of the British Jewish community in September 2013, it has been confirmed. Lord Sacks will have held the position for 22 years. Simon Hochauser, President of the United Synagogue, a London orthodox union, said the Cambridge graduate and prolific author would be a “hard act to follow.” Speculation has already started over who will replace Lord Sacks, with several names entering the fray.
