A Lebanese TV host instinctively blamed Israel after hearing a bomb blast while on air. The incident happened on Friday in the Beirut studio of Lebanon’s Future TV, and a video of the incident was published online on Sunday by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).
“There seems to have been an explosion in the vicinity,” the nervous looking host says, following the audible blast. “We just heard an explosion, people are rushing to the scene.”
“We still don’t know if it was a plane breaking the sound barrier or an explosion,” she says. “We’ve just heard a loud blast. It seems like the Israeli airforce.”
The detonation turned out to be a car bomb attack which targeted prominent pro-Western politician Mohamad Chatah. The attack killed Chatah and four others, and allies of the slain politician were quick to blame Lebanon based terror group Hezbollah for the killing.
The car bomb hit Chatah’s SUV as he drive through a ritzy business district near Beirut’s waterfront, CBS news reported.
