Israel Aerospace Industries on Thursday unveiled its Combat Team Battle Management System (CT-BMS) at the DEFEXPO 2014 Exhibition, in New Delhi, according to Israel’s Globes business daily.
In a statement to the newspaper, IAI said the CT-BMS, developed by subsidiary ELTA Systems, was designed to address the challenges of tactical land forces command, control, collaboration and real-time situational awareness.
The advanced system connects combatants, tactical sensors, weapons systems, combat platforms, headquarters and supporting forces to create real-time information for an entire combat team, Globes said.
IAI president and CEO Joseph Weiss said, “The CT-BMS provides the next generation C4I system for the combat team and battalion level.”
“The system addresses the challenges of the modern battlefield with advanced multimedia BMS applications and collaboration tools that deliver voice, data and video to hundreds of users from battalion level to individual soldiers,” Weiss said.
The new system integrates automation, collaboration and mission planning tools with command and control software to provide full battle planning and management capabilities down to the level of individual soldiers, it said. The system can also operate with a wide variety of communication networks including Combat Net Radio, line of sight, or satellite communication.
IAI, which is still wholly owned by the Israeli government, is Israel’s largest aerospace and aviation manufacturer, producing aerial systems for both military and civilian usage, and, as of 2007, had 16,000 employees. IAI is the largest industrial exporter in Israel.
Also at the New Dehli conference, Defense News reported on Thursday that IAI and Israel’s Rafael will partner with two Indian defense technology firms to jointly build an integrated anti-missile system to be deployed against Chinese nuclear and conventional missiles.
The Israeli companies will work with the Defense Research and Development Organisation and India’s state-owned Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on the project.
