Actor Jason Biggs and his wife, Jenny Mollen, drew online criticism for photos, and accompanying captions, of their son’s circumcision ceremony on Tuesday.

In one picture, posted on Instagram, the American Pie star is all smiles as his newborn son, Sid, receives a kiss from Mollen. The new mother captioned the photo, “Today was not a good day to be Sid’s penis. #babybiggs #circumcision.”

A second shot shows the family of three wrapped under a Jewish prayer shawl, with Mollen writing, “Right after we decided not to bury the foreskin in our backyard for fear that [our dog] Teets might find it and bring it into bed to sleep with us. That’s so Teets!”

Social media critics blasted the pair for making light of the occasion. One wrote, “Pretty sick that they can joke about cutting parts off of their baby. What a sad day for that poor little boy.”

Another Instagram user said, “He has to live with a mutilated penis because his parents are ignorant.” 

“Sick ppl that should be in prison for child abuse. And they think is funny….” another wrote.

Mollen and Biggs welcomed their first child on Feb. 15. The couple got married in April 2008.
