Protestant ‘Modern Family’ Star Julie Bowen Describes Passover Seder Experience (VIDEO)

Modern Family star Julie Bowen on Thursday described what it was like taking her three sons to their first Passover seder this year as part of her effort to expose them to different religions.
“We ended up at a Passover dinner… it was very meaningful and they talked all about freeing the slaves and everything, and my kids were into it,” the actress – who calls herself a “low Protestant” – said during a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “But then when they brought out the 10 plagues of Egypt finger puppets, it’s hard.”
“You got your cattle plague, your lice, your beasts, your dead first born,” Bowen added.
Asked by Kimmel if finger puppets at Passover seders are “a thing” Bowen replied, “apparently so. There is a finger puppet to help the kids remember the sad times.”
The host then asked if Bowen’s boys enjoyed the experience.
“Well their takeaway, they were like, ‘So, if you’re Jewish, you get fun finger puppets to talk about sad stuff,'” she said.
Modern Family airs Wednesday nights on ABC.
