An unknown gunman fired a volley of shots at a group of religious youths in Jerusalem’s Ramat Shlomo neighborhood overnight Friday.
Members of the largely charedi, 20,000-resident enclave, which extends across the capital’s northern bout, told investigators that the gunfire originated in either neighboring Arab Beit Hanina or Shuafat.
There were no injuries in the incident, in which police found 13 shell casings in a garden some 70 meters from where the group of youngsters were located, according to Israel National News.
Security forces on the ground and in a helicopter hovering overhead scoured the vicinity in the wake of the shooting, and some areas were closed off to pedestrians, according to the charedi community’s B’Haderi Haderim news site.
In an earlier shooting attack Friday afternoon, unknown assailants fired at Israeli vehicles traveling near the community of Adam, several kilometers north of the capital, hitting several cars.
There were no injuries in that attack.
Meanwhile, Israeli army forces overnight Saturday detained four Palestinian Arabs in Nablus, suspected of collaborating in Friday’s failed suicide bombing at a nearby checkpoint, at the Tapauch Junction.
Troops detained another 12 suspects in sweeps in other areas in Samaria, the army spokesman said.
