The Rolling Stones first concert in Israel a week ago was still in the news on Monday, when Israeli model Noa Tishby was revealed as Mick Jagger’s secret weapon when he spoke to concert goers in Hebrew, which the brunette beauty whispered to the rocker via his earpiece.
Additionally, an Instagram photo of the pair, accompanied by a very personal letter by Tishby, was interpreted as a veiled love letter by Britain’s tabloids, keeping the Stones’s Tel Aviv concert in the international news.
Rather than as his translator, Britain’s Daily Mail and Daily Star on Monday tried to connect Tishby to the saga of the the rocker’s love life, after he was photographed with another brunette beauty on a hotel balcony in Zurich after a concert there the week before. (The Zurich beauty may have been wearing a man’s button-down shirt, the Daily Mail noted.)
While the British press published quotes from “unnamed insiders” who approved of Jagger moving on from girlfriend L’Wren Scott, who killed herself three months ago as her fashion company failed, her sister was reported saying that Jagger’s new love conquest came too soon, and was in poor taste.
The story played out on social media.
On Instagram, Tishby wrote, “Thank you @mickjagger for amazing few days in Israel. Thank you for showing us all how to rock it like a legend. Thank you for being so generous with your energy, time, music.”
“To say you’re inspirational would be the understatement of the century,” Tishby wrote.
Coverage of the Rolling Stones concert, and Jagger’s seemingly flawless Hebrew, bolstered activists fighting against the delegitimization of the Jewish State. Former Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters has been pressuring performers to skip Israel from international concert tours as part of a “cultural boycott.”
According to Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, rather than any influence from Roger Waters, it was Bob Dylan, who, en route to play in Tel Aviv, inspired the band to pursue last week’s concert at Hayarkon Park.
One of the highlights at the show for many of the attendees was Jagger’s decision to address the fans in Hebrew.
“Good evening Tel Aviv, Happy Shavuot,” Jagger said, introducing the band to 50,000 concert goers. “We are the Rolling Stones!” he said in Hebrew.
On Sunday, the Israellycool blog reported: “So now we know it was Noa Tishby, Israeli actress and pro-Israel advocate extraordinaire who was with Mick Jagger and the Stones for quite a bit of their trip. Apparently she organised the after show party and, as has been reported by Israel’s top entertainment TV presenter, Guy Pines, she was feeding the Hebrew lines to Mick during the concert via his ear piece.”
