Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli on Wednesday joined the #TimetoAct campaign to end sexual violence in conflict.
The British Embassy in Israel uploaded a picture of the Israeli beauty to Twitter holding a sign that read “#TIMETOACT.” The photo’s caption urged others to also support the cause, asking, “Will you join her?”
Refaeli is not the only star who has joined the #TimetoAct campaign. Fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, Harry Potter actress Bonnie Wright and model Cara Delevingne have posted similar photos of themselves holding “#TimetoAct” signs.
“Any help is appreciated! It’s #timetoact on rape in Sri Lanka #stoptorture,” Delevingne captioned her shot.
Actress and director Angelina Jolie, who is also a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres, on Tuesday opened London’s four-day Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict.
“It is a myth that rape is an inevitable part of conflict. There’s nothing inevitable about it. It is a weapon of war aimed at civilians. It has nothing to do with sex, everything to do with power,” she said at the opening ceremony.
Jolie, who is also chairman of the Summit, has spent 10 years campaigning against the use of rape as a weapon of war, according to Britain’s Daily Mail.
