In a dramatic new video, a Zionist Israeli Arab youth, part of a large Nazareth area clan, ripped into his aunt, a Knesset member, over her incessant hostility to Israel, Jews, Zionism, and even her own parliament.
“You have no right to serve in the Israeli parliament, and are more than welcome to get out of here,” said 17-year-old Mohammad Zoabi, according to Israel’s Ma’ariv daily.
Zoabi had to go into hiding for death threats after a previously issued YouTube clip supporting Israel, Zionism, and the search for the trio of teens who were abducted by presumed Hamas members on June 12 and shot dead shortly afterward.
The latest brash film clip also garnered Zoabi threats from his aunt’s fans. In the six minute clip, which was uploaded on Thursday, Zoabi junior wasn’t shy.
Repeating himself in English, Hebrew and Arabic, he called his aunt a “stinking traitor,” and suggested she “get the hell out of Israel.”
“You are… sitting in our parliament and being anti-Semitic inside our parliament,” he said.
Another cousin, Nahal Zoabi, in his own video clip said, “The Zoabi clan numbers about 10,000, and we are not all Hanins,” according to Israel National News.
Nahal, who serves as principal of a high school in the village of Kfar Nin, near Afula said, “I condemn the kidnapping, it was an immoral and wrong thing to do.”
The Nazareth-based clan’s splintered extended family relations fissures highlight the complex, and often contradictory political identity of the 20 percent of Arabs among Israel’s 8 million residents.
In recent weeks, lawmakers have called for stripping Balad party Knesset Member Zoabi’s parliamentary immunity for her verbal support for Hamas, and claiming that the Islamic group were not terrorists.
To complicate matters, the Zoabi clan is related to former Nazareth Mayor Seif el-Din el-Zoubi, who was also a Knesset member and was active fighting for Israel’s independence in the Haganah. He later received the Fighter of the State Decoration. One time Deputy Health Minister, Abd el-Aziz el-Zoubi – who was the first Arab member of an Israeli government, was also a relative.
