Benjamin Netanyahu
Prime Minister of Israel
Arguably the most famous living Jew, Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister, has seen his fair share of political battles both within Israel and internationally. But there’s a strong case to be made that the next twelve months will be Bibi’s most challenging yet – a rocky relationship with the Obama White House is just one of many obstacles to ensuring that Iran does not become a nuclear threshold state, while elections in March will see him fending off strong challenges from left and right. Additionally, the rise in antisemitism in Europe and elsewhere has resulted in a powerful reaffirmation of the Zionist credo on Netanyahu’s part; as he told The Algemeiner in a wide-ranging interview last October, “the Jews should always know they have a home in Israel.”
