Some Thoughts on Hamas, Iran, and Passover

- While Twitter was right to suspend thousands of accounts that belong to ISIS, why is Hamas still permitted to openly operate on Twitter? Hamas is an illegal terrorist organization according to American law. Many (myself included) have publicly commented on the group’s Twitter feed. Why is it that ISIS is shut down but Hamas continues to operate with impunity online?
- Amidst reports that “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is concerned that Iran will abide by the terms of a nuclear deal, thus diverting the world’s attention from its nuclear program, and ensuring that renewed sanctions and long-term monitoring of Tehran’s nuclear sites is made nearly impossible…”, the words of Ze’ev Jabotinsky ring true. The world should know and understand that the leader of the State of Israel will take action to protect the Jewish State.
- Jabotinsky noted, “The Latin proverb says ‘of two evils choose the lesser.’ When we are in a position where – through no fault of our own – physical force dominates, only one question can be asked: what is worse? To continue watching Jews being killed and the conviction grows that our lives our cheap, and among the whole world that we are spineless?… the blackest of all characteristics is the tradition of the cheapness of Jewish blood, on the shedding of which there is no prohibition and for which you do not pay.” The head of World Likud, and a member of Israel’s Knesset, Danny Danon noted this week that, “The dispute between Israel and the US on Iran is substantial, and it does not matter who is prime minister.” He rightfully noted that had a left-winger been elected Prime Minister, there would have been a similar dispute.
- Leading opposition Knesset Member Eitan Cabel of the Zionist Union party similarly said that he “stood behind the Prime Minister over the ‘extremely worrisome’ nuclear framework agreement with Iran.” Cabel wrote on his Facebook page that he “refuse[s] to join the flock of followers applauding the nuclear deal with Iran,” and added, “On this matter alone, I stand behind Benjamin Netanyahu.”
- Cabel – a fierce Netanyahu critic added that the consensus in Israel on the issue of Iran obtaining nuclear weapons was above party or political differences, saying that, “this time, it is definitely not a matter of Right or Left,” and adding that even “with all the criticism there is about how [Netanyahu] conducted the struggle against the agreement, the struggle itself is just. Against a nuclear Iran, there is no opposition or coalition. We are all Israelis.” Uber-liberal American Jewish leaders stand against Israel on the Iran issue. They are wrong.
- “Next Year in Miami” rings true for me. For the first time, this year my family attended the Presidential Passover program at Turnberry Isle Miami and our entire family loved it. Great getaway and recharging of the batteries – and absolutely a program I highly recommend.
