Leading up to Egypt’s historic elections, the Justice and Freedom Party (FJP) was established by the Muslim Brotherhood to participate in the newly formed government.
As expected, FJP and other Islamic factions won a convincing majority in parliament, giving the Muslim Brotherhood significant influence over Egyptian policy as a whole, including it’s relationship with Israel. The Brotherhood, which refers to Israel as a “racist colonizing expansionist entity,” is now at the forefront of Egyptian politics.
The Algemeiner researched and examined a number of top Brotherhood and FJP figures, uncovering their record on issues related to the Jewish State.
Mohammed Badie: The eighth General Guide (chairman) of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood.
In August he said, “The Zionists, the West and the lackey rulers conspired together. If the Muslim Brotherhood had remained in the field, the Zionist Entity would not have stood nor it’s flag raised.” He has also referred to Israel as an “occupying usurper“.
In a June 2011 sermon, Badie said “Allah warned us against the deceit of the Jews and their dangerous role in sparking wars…” He blamed the Jews for the division of Sudan and the internal conflict among the Palestinians.
Muhammad Mahdi Akef: Former General Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, preceding Mohammed Badie
During the Israel-Hezbollah war, Akef stated that he wanted to “send immediately, 10,000 mujahedeen to fight the Zionists alongside Hezbollah”. Akef also praised the capture and killings of Israeli soldiers on July 12, 2006, as a “heroic act”.
In November 10, 2007, Akef said that the “Brotherhood has not recognized Camp David from the very first day it was signed,” and that Arabs and Muslims should “resist the enemy [Israel] with armed jihad.”He also claimed that the movement “did not have anything called “Israel” in it’s dictionary”.
Rashad Bayoumi: Deputy to Muslim Brotherhood General Guide Muhammad Badie
Bayoumi said that the Brotherhood would not recognize Israel, as it was an occupying and oppressive entity, and that none of its members “would ever [even] sit beside an Israeli.”
Fathi Shihab: Responsible for the Muslim Brotherhood’s labor dossier
Shilab describes the Holocaust as a “tale” used by Israel to deflect international criticism. He said that “world Zionism” and American intelligence had invented the Holocaust to damage Germany’s image and to justify the damage done to Axis countries by Allied attacks during World War II. He claims that “Western scientists and philosophers have unmasked the greatest lie in human history” and goes on to name four holocaust deniers.
Dr. Muhammad Abd Al-Rahman Al-Marsi: Member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Office of the General Guide
Al-Marsi wrote about an alleged 1933 clandestine agreement, where he claimed zionist organizations had with Hitler to facilitate Jewish immigration from Europe to Palestine.
Dr. Abd Al-Rahman Al-Bar: Member of the Muslim Brotherhood General Guide’s Office
Al-Bar praised suicide bombings and stressed that all of Palestine, from “the sea to the river” should be liberated through violence. He said negotiations had not benefited the Palestinians and praised the attack on the Israeli embassy in Cairo, following Egypt’s revolution in 2010. In addition to all this, he has also called for Israel’s destruction.
Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi: One of the brotherhood’s most influential theologians
Qaradawi made a speech on January 30, 2009 calling on Muslims to put Jews in “their place” as Hitler had done, in retaliation for Israeli actions in Gaza. Two days earlier, Qaradawi stated that he hoped for the opportunity to kill Jews before his death.
