A transgender reporter referred to Orthdox Judaism as a “misogynistic cult” on Tuesday, threatening a Jewish political commentator during and after their joint appearance on a television panel.
Inside Edition’s Zoey Tur and Breitbart Senior Editor-at-Large Ben Shapiro first butted heads when they joined a live panel last Thursday on HLN’s Dr. Drew on Call. The group discussed whether transgender celebrity Caitlyn Jenner deserved to be the recipient of ESPN’s Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
After Shapiro argued that anyone biologically born with male DNA would always remain a male, and referred to Tur as “sir,” the angered reporter grabbed Shapiro’s neck and warned, “You better cut that out now, or you’ll go home in an ambulance.”
Tur repeated the threat on Twitter the next day promising to “curb stomp” Shapiro. The violent street practice involves forcing a victim to bite the corner of a cement street curb while an assailant tramples on the victim’s head.
On Tuesday, during a radio interview with KFI AM 640’s Bill Carroll, Tur made a third threat saying, “I came so close to putting [Shapiro] over my knee and spanking him.”
The reporter said she used a “love hold” when grabbing Shapiro during the panel discussion, adding, “Was it forceful? I don’t know, that’s relative…”
When Caroll asked if Tur was actually threatening the Breitbart editor, the journalist replied, “No. Well, maybe I was. Yeah, probably.”
“I had had enough,” Tur continued. “He’s a wimp, he’s a wimp… He almost got spanked, what do you expect?”
The journalist, who is Jewish, also attacked Orthodox Judaism during the interview with Carroll, describing it is “a very misogynistic cult… where women are treated differently, they’re not allowed to touch men.”
“So maybe that’s the battery,” Tur said. “Maybe a woman touched him, and put her hand on his shoulder or the back of his neck, and that’s prescribed in the ultra-Orthodox religion, maybe that’s the battery he’s talking about.”
Shapiro filed a police report with the Los Angeles Police Department on Sunday morning alleging battery against Tur, Breitbart reported. He said the attacks against his religion were uncalled for.
“I never invoked my religion in the discussion about transgenderism, given that it is irrelevant: biology is the only relevant factor here,” Shapiro said. “Attacks on my religion by Tur once again show that for this gentleman, like the rest of the left, tolerance is merely a buzzword to be discarded for the sake of convenience.”
