A car-ramming attack Tuesday afternoon left two Israelis lightly wounded, and the terrorist neutralized, according to a Channel 2 News bulletin.
The attacker rammed his vehicle into a hitchhiking stop at the Gush Etzion intersection in the West Bank at around 3:45 p.m., lightly wounding two men, approximately 20 and 30 years old respectively.
This attack took place three hours after an Israeli man was killed on a highway near Hebron, when his car was pelted with rocks, and he exited the vehicle, only to be run over by a truck. The Arab truck driver fled the scene, but later turned himself in, claiming it was an accident, and not a terror attack. Security services are investigating.
Also in the Hebron area, at 11:23 a.m., an IDF officer was stabbed while trying to quell Palestinian riots. He was evacuated to the Soroka Medical Center in Beer Sheva, where he is being treated for stab wounds to his face. The terrorist was shot and killed.
Tuesday’s attacks are the latest in the wave of terrorism that began early last month, characterized mainly by rock-throwing and stabbing. But recent calls from Hamas to take the violence to the next level, and commit car-ramming and suicide attacks, are causing concern among security services about the beginnings of an escalation in the scope and type of terror Israelis can expect.
