A 20-year-old female IDF soldier was mortally wounded in a stabbing attack at the Adam Junction, north of Jerusalem on Wednesday afternoon, according to Israeli press services.
She was attacked by two terrorists. One was killed by a female soldier who witnessed the attack. The other was arrested.
According to reports two hours after the attack, the young woman is still fighting for her life on the operating table at Hadassah Medical Center on Mount Scopus.
This comes on the heels of the light wounding of a female IDF soldier in a stabbing attack in the West Bank. The terrorist was shot and killed, according to a Channel 2 News bulletin.
A few hours earlier, an Israeli man was lightly injured in an apparent car-ramming attack near Ofra, a settlement located between Jerusalem and Nablus, Israeli news sites reported shortly after the incident, which is still being investigated.
A policeman, possibly the person injured in the attack, shot at the vehicle, which had crashed into a checkpoint on Highway 60, the site of a number of recent rock and other attacks against Israeli motorists.
After stopping the car several hundred feet from the scene, the driver fled on foot towards a nearby Palestinian village. Police are investigating the incident to determine whether it was, in fact, an intentional car-ramming attack.
Earlier in the morning, a 15-year-old Palestinian girl with a knife tried to enter to the West Bank settlement of Yitzhar, where she was shot and wounded by soldiers.
These are the latest attacks in the wave of terrorism that surged early last month, as a result of which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu implemented new security measures, among them beefing up police presence through the use of IDF soldiers.
