Three members of Israel’s Border Police were wounded in an act of vehicular terrorism at the Beit Anoun junction north of Hebron on Sunday afternoon, according to Hebrew press reports.

Initial accounts say that a Palestinian car rammed into a group of Israelis standing at a bus stop. Though the group saw the car coming and tried to move away, three were hit.

Israeli security forces stationed at what has become a sensitive spot in terms of attempted and successful terrorist attacks opened fire on the vehicle. The car nevertheless sped ahead, and a chase is underway to apprehend the driver.

One of the wounded was deemed in moderate-to-serious condition, with injuries to his head; the other two were diagnosed as lightly injured. All three were treated on the scene by IDF paramedics. Magen David Adom said the seriously wounded man was evacuated to the Hadassah Medical Center/Ein Kerem in Jerusalem, while the other two — a man and a woman — were brought to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

All three victims are reported to be in their 20s.

Less than three hours earlier, at the same location, a knife-wielding Palestinian was shot and killed by a Border Policeman while attempting to stab a soldier, during clashes between rioting Palestinians and Israeli security services.
