JNS.org – Amid a pessimistic view expressed by U.S. President Barack Obama over the likelihood of an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal during his term, four more Israelis were injured Friday in three Palestinian terror attacks in Judea and Samaria. The IDF prevented a fourth attack by shooting a terrorist dead.
One Israeli man was stabbed near Sha’ar Binyamin, two Israeli teenagers were shot near Hebron’s Cave of the Patriarchs, and a fourth victim was shot near Hebron. In addition, a 72-year-old woman Palestinian was killed by IDF soldiers after trying to run them over with her vehicle, Yedioth Ahronoth reported. According to reports, the woman’s husband was himself a terrorist who was killed during the second intifada.
Some hours later, a Palestinian teenager uploaded a video to Facebook in which he claimed responsibility for one of the attacks as a member of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades.
Meanwhile, as the Palestinian terror wave against Jewish Israelis continues, Obama issued a “realistic assessment” that a peace deal in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is unlikely to be reached during the remainder of his term in office, according to a U.S. official who spoke to reporters ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House on Monday, theAssociated Press reported.
Obama and Netanyahu, who have a history of disagreements and will be meeting for the first time since the U.S. and the other P5+1 nations reached a nuclear deal with Iran in July, will discuss ways to de-escalate altercations between Israel and the Palestinians in the absence of a peace agreement.
